<About BANFI>
Founded in 1978, BANFI is headquartered at Castello di Poggio alle Mura in Montalcino, in the Siena province of Tuscany, Italy.
In a region dominated by small-scale producers, BANFI stands apart as an innovative estate with over 800 hectares of vineyards,
producing exceptional wines at scale without compromising on quality.
Since its founding, BANFI has pursued continuous research and development in grape cloning, soil science, and winemaking techniques.
Harvesting combines traditional hand-picking with precision color-sensor technology for berry-by-berry selection,
followed by a second manual sorting prior to destemming and crushing, ensuring the most rigorous quality control at every stage.
For red wine fermentation, BANFI employs its proprietary hybrid tank, the “Horizon,”
which naturally supplies oxygen and oak tannins while simultaneously managing temperature and remontage.
Ageing is carried out in custom-made 350-litre barrels, larger than the standard barrique of 225 litres, for a more refined maturation process.
BANFI’s commitment to innovation has earned widespread international recognition, including Winery of the Year at Gran Vinitaly, Italy (2017),
Winery of the Year (Import Category) at the Sommelier Challenge and Winemaker Challenge, USA (2018 and 2019),
and Wine Family of the Year at the Meininger AWARD, Germany (2019).
